trying to answer the question do

dislikes actually matter on YouTube you

know people are like I don’t care that

you dislike my video because it actually

made me appear higher in search results

and you know people are like Oh any type

of rating helps my videos and do we

actually know that to be a fact I don’t

so let’s actually demonstrate this let’s

see if that’s the case so should what

I’m searching right here is should pie

be big or small one two three this is

what I’m searching and if you search

that nothing pops up as you can see here

so let me copy this and just to prove it

let me delete that type it in hit enter

nothing pops up nothing yet so to

demonstrate this we’re gonna upload two

videos okay that video and that and

we’re gonna give them both the same

title this title is gonna be that

description is gonna be that only tags

gonna be that we’re gonna do that with

this video as well boom boom boom both

videos are ten seconds long and the only

difference between each video is the

words that are on the screen which has

no effects and you know how it’s going

to rank so both videos are ten seconds

long both videos have the exact same

title description and tags and then what

we’re going to do is I’m going to click

on the one that appears second dislike

that video and see if that dislike

causes it to appear about the other one

if you don’t understand what I said I’ll

explain it again one second so we’ll hit

publish and we’ll hit publish so boom I

just uploaded two videos both videos

have the exact same tags description and

title so as you can see we have two

videos from the channel I just uploaded

to both videos are 11 seconds both

videos have the exact same title

description and tags when ice and I

search the title and everything right

here and this is the video I uploaded to

a different channel just to test

something ignore it this is there’s

nothing to do with what we’re testing

right now so this video as you’ll read

right here says do dislikes matter and

it has number two this video just says

do dislikes matter so what I’m gonna do

is I’m gonna dislike this video I’m

gonna watch all 11 seconds so it is 100%

watch time yeah I’m going to dislike

this video and I’m gonna watch this

entire video and not leave a rating and

I’m going to see

if because I dislike this video if next

time I search it this video is going to

appear higher than this video purely

because it has a dislike okay so we’re

going to open this up in another tab and

we’re to open up this one right here so

we’re going to watch both videos all the

way through so they have a hundred

percent watch time and we’re just going

to dislike this one so I dislike this

video the video the video that appeared

second in search results I just left a

dislike on and want to watch it all the

way through and this one I left no

rating on alright so we just watch both

videos I’m going to exit out of them and

now we’re to go back to YouTube and

search and see what happened and what do

you know the video that I disliked is

now appearing higher than the video that

I didn’t dislike so in case you haven’t

been paying attention or just have been

completely zoned out when I first

uploaded these videos this video the one

with the number two right here appeared

first and then I clicked on both videos

watch them both all the way through so

they had a hundred percent watch time

but I dislike this one and because I

dislike this one it actually got bumped

up in search results above this other

one because if that dislike didn’t make

a difference in search results then it

would have remained how it was before

because that was the only difference

between the two of these videos they

both have one view it doesn’t show here

because it has an updated but they both

only have one view they both have a

hundred percent watch time same

description same tags same title the

only difference is this top video got a

dislike which bumped it up above this

one so yes dislikes do matter on YouTube

if you dislike someone’s video you are

actually helping them you are not

hurting them you are helping them in

search results you are bumping them up

which will in return get them more views

and make them more famous so if you

truly hate someone you would not leave a

rating at all instead of disliking their

video that is the video hopefully you
