all right welcome back everyone
we’re here for another q a and anything
that i say is definitely not meant to
diagnose or replace your medical care
check with your doc before
doing any things we’re going to talk
about and do your own research
but i would like to show you a lot of
interesting links between
natural things and
body conditions so that way you can
get a clue up like what areas to focus
more on um
because the problem is like there’s just
so many complications and side effects
from these
synthetic solutions
so steve let’s just dive right into
these questions all right we are indeed
what we eat aren’t we
all right let’s go uh right over to um
social media we’ll start with avo
from youtube thanks for your passion for
helping people i see so many good things
in your products and i probably need
them all but
which products should i start with as
someone just beginning on my journey to
better health good question
i think the electrolyte powder because
electrolyte powder is a it’s a very
different uh blend of minerals because
it’s really high in
potassium it has the trace minerals it
has the other elec electrolytes but it
also has um
the quality is like i don’t have any
hidden multi-dextrin like a lot of other
products have because they go with the
cheaper ingredients so it’s it’s really
good for keto it’s really good for even
if you’re not on keto um so i think that
would be like the base
that i would recommend um i i actually
going to release a video um
on
hooking up a light bulb
with
wires to
distilled water and then adding the
the powder in there to show people
electrolytes make things more electrical
and so your body becomes now powered to
run the nervous system and the muscles
so you’ll you’ll definitely feel
difference especially if you exercise
you’ll feel a difference
so yeah and
it’s a little bit different than
gatorade
yeah well i do stir it into
a little half glass of water before my
run
each day if i run each day when i do so
uh got rid of my uh calf cramps i was
having really bad calf cramps when i ran
probably not drinking enough water in
usual but anyway so i’ve ended that in
and haven’t had one of them thang since
so let’s go back to
i don’t know whether it’s youtube or not
but ron can i juice a cantaloupe i’ve
heard they’re very nutritional
they have nutrients but there’s a
tremendous amount of
sugar
in those cantaloupes especially if
you’re juicing it you’re taking away the
buffer which is the fiber
and you’re going to get straight sugar
so
i wouldn’t recommend that of course i
used to do that myself and
[Music]
not anymore though i used to juice
massive amounts of carrot juice until i
started turning orange and i said there
could be a problem with this um but
you know it sounds like a great idea
with the cleanse but what are you
cleansing yourself with you’re cleansing
yourself with a lot of fructose and
other sugars
and of course a lot of people have done
the
like the fasting for a week and then
adding the lemon and maple syrup
cleanse and
well that’s when you start doing
cleanses with glucose like that or juice
you never fully get it adapt into keto
so it’s it’s incredibly
difficult because
if you’re trying to do
uh fasting
with blood sugar issues it’s torture
you’re going to be craving pizza all day
and you’re going to just be thinking
about i can’t wait till i eat
interesting okay lauren from youtube
what can i do for low stomach acid can
it be caused by too much intermittent
fasting
it does it’s not caused by too much
fasting because it
it’s caused by
a lot of things like antacids
it could be caused from not enough sea
salt
uh because the sodium chloride chloride
builds the hydrochloric acid it could
also become come from not enough
potassium it could come just from just
being getting older
so a lot of people have low stomach
acids but it’s it’s not caused by
fasting and the simple solution is just
to take betaine hydrochloride and with
your meals
and then you keep increasing it and you
might need a lot at first until you can
really digest and one of the biggest
symptoms from lack of stomach acid is
indigestion
that’s the big one and of course gas
interesting okay joy from youtube this
uh you recently talked back one of your
videos dr berg about changing your
eating window maybe the morning or
whatever but still maintaining a certain
amount of fasting so here’s one joy from
youtube can i can our intermittent
fasting window be flexible if i change
my eating window from one to seven one
day and eleven to five to the next will
this affect my ability to get into
ketosis
no that’s a really good question no it
absolutely will not affect things you
can rotate it you can change it up um i
think you should change it up to see
what works better for you because for
example um
i’ve in the past i would eat it my first
meal like
maybe two or three and then the second
meal at seven or
six or seven right
um and then
recently i tried to eat
earlier and then the second meal maybe
two o’clock
maybe three at the very latest
so you want to experiment with that
since
um i’m experimenting
with just one meal it’s called omad
per day
the question is should i eat that for
breakfast
or midday
that’s kind of where i’m from right now
and i’m i i’ve been doing in the morning
but i’m also
testing out a couple days just doing in
the afternoon but not past three
and i think it’s gonna work better if i
have
just one meal right in the middle of the
day maybe two two thirty three o’clock
and the reason for that is
when i get up in the morning i’m just
absolutely positively not hungry for
anything
so it’s hard to eat if you’re not hungry
so um
but when i start moving around and start
exerting energy and then i can have
somewhat of an appetite in the afternoon
so that’s kind of i’m just playing
around with it i’m gonna i’m gonna go
back and forth and just see what works
better as i said in the video just these
things you have to test out to see if
they actually work for you um
because it’s
you’ll have
you’ll be you’ll be totally sure on one
one idea and all of a sudden there’ll be
one person who said oh no
it works completely like for example
taking the um electrolyte powder i said
don’t take it before you go to bed
because you’re going to be up all night
peeing
and of course someone said oh no i it’s
the only time that stops my peeing by
taking electrolytes before bed i’m like
okay well
there’s always that exception to the
rule so whatever works for you
indeed okay and uh here i am on screen a
rare appearance and there’s a reason for
it so right here is dr berg’s app so dr
berg app this one happens to be on
iphone
uh and i’ve just logged on and i already
feel better by golly no there’s a reason
i brought this up because ronda
just asked do you have a video on leg
cramps and again from hq’s just to prove
this so it’s all set so go to doctor you
know go to your app store on this is
happens to be apple dr berg app or the
same on android so get on there and it’s
an absolute wealth of information
to answer any question you have even
though dr berg’s delighted to ask answer
your questions on here so once again
let’s go back to
ronda’s question how can do you have any
videos on leg cramps
i have a lot of videos in leg cramps and
the thing about leg cramps is that
it could it’s not always one electrolyte
it could be uh magnesium it could be
potassium it could even be sodium it
could be calcium so because they all
tend to work together because you have
this
this uh over contracted muscle right
is it that you’re you’re missing the the
the mineral that’s supposed to relax
the muscle
or is it that you’re you’re missing
another mineral that indirectly works
with um
the contraction relaxation uh phase so
it’s one of those things you have to uh
do a like uh rule things out
one by one or just take electrolytes and
that should help you
now the other factor too is that let’s
say you have all these minerals
but your ph is on the alkaline side
in order to have these minerals being
transported you need the right ph it
can’t be too alkaline if things are too
alkaline in the body you’ll tend to get
tetany or tightness or spasm or muscle
cramps
so
some people just swing some apple cider
vinegar with water and boom they do
great and they didn’t need to take any
electrolytes so i have a lot of videos
on that and like steve said
um
i finally completed the upgrade on our
app it’s a free app that just has all
the videos that i do on this one app so
if anything ever happens in the future
you can’t find me on youtube
for some reason because they shut me
down
guess what
you’ll have an app and you can watch the
videos
um
and they can be um
you know
uh
easily uh categorized so you could find
things a lot better
i mean i have videos on certain topics
on youtube that i can’t even find i
can’t even find certain videos for some
reason so sometimes it’s hard to find
what you’re looking for but i do have
about 6 000 videos on every single topic
you can imagine so um
you might want to think about getting an
app and checking it out i think you’ll
like it yeah it just digests everything
down to six buttons or something to get
uh you know any category any area audio
video etc etc
and this is good news for people around
the world because we are being joined
from the uk canada jordan jamaica st
lucia
lucia maybe india bolivia norway ghana
spain belgium
poland today cameroon iran japan
netherlands pakistan algeria south
africa france ireland nepal argentina
the czech republic mexico finland italy
egypt taiwan greece germany uganda
sweden nigeria malta and dubai bermuda
trinidad and tobago kenya romania peru
iceland syria romania saudi arabia bali
switzerland
mauritius terry i can’t i can’t
pronounce these things these exotic
places but thank you for emeritus and i
bet i butchered your name the
philippines turkey albania costa rica
and all across these united states and i
guarantee you poor terry has band-aids
on his fingers from typing all that in
so we really appreciate your effort
there terry that’s terrific and we also
appreciate the efforts of those in the
green room that are so patient
to come onto the show and ask the
question personally and let’s kick it
off with phillip and philip is calling
from the middle of indiana and phillip
you’re on with dr byrd
great good morning sir uh in the
interest of time i’ll not cover my
background with training but my question
for you pertains to whey protein uh
in reference to uh intermittent fasting
and keto i was surprised that that first
of all that it’s restricted and that
there was no delineation between
uh hydrolysate uh
concentrates or isolate can you
elaborate on that
yeah yeah so um
whey protein is a unique type of protein
it’s one type of protein in the dairy
um it’s not casein and a lot of people
take it uh for uh bodybuilding and
muscle muscle
uh with air into a place the amino acids
um if you look at the bioavailability
it’s not on the top of the book it’s
kind of lower
um
but it is very very very high on another
scale called the
insulin index
and
those are all the
they they don’t look
for foods that spike your blood sugars
like the glycemic index they’re looking
for foods that will spike the actual
insulin and that’s what we’re trying to
really ultimately keep down so on one
note um
you’re going to get a spike of insulin
when you take it away and that may not
be a bad thing
if you are trying to gain muscle or or
weight
um because you also at the same time
spike the opposing hormone called
glucagon so it kind of it does help to
neutralize it to some degree it’s not
like eating sugar um but you just have
to experiment and see how well your body
handles the whey protein
so
you know i always
because it’s very low fat it’s a lean
protein
um that’s why it spikes
um
insulin a little bit more than other
things actually a lot more
you may want to try
a protein or amino acid that has more
fat or add that with it but
so that’s just my my take on it um
some people do really good on it
you know a lot of the
powders out there
they don’t just have the whey protein
they have in there they have a
maltodextrin which is like oh my gosh
you’re going to really spike that
glucose
now
i am going to be doing a recipe
with whey protein
on a keto brick
for those people that want to gain
weight
um
which is a you can buy the keto brick
product but i have a really good recipe
that you can make your own
and
you know have add that to the meal add
additional thousand calories
and uh because that’s always the
challenge is how do you eat enough food
to get the calories up
maintain or gain some weight with keto
uh that would be one way to do it and so
stay tuned for that video
okay
thank you
welcome
philip thank you for your succinct
question we appreciate that and do call
us back uh once you’ve ate a brick of um
of that stubborn question tell us tell
us how that’s working out for you so
good you’re mixing you’re mixing um
cacao powder with uh whey protein and
some mct powder
but getting the just the right
combination to make it not taste like a
brick has been a challenge
um but it’s actually
i think we i think we almost got it
there so um
give me a couple more weeks and i’ll be
releasing that
okay
philip we’ll be in touch thank you so
much let’s go back to social media mario
from youtube good morning dr berg i
started keto 10 days ago but i find
myself getting dizzy what should i do
now
you need sea salt you need sea salt um
that’s what you’re missing um
that’s all you need to do is add some
sea salt and you’ll find that dizziness
will go away
very good jazzy gems what a name from
youtube is quinoa or canoa considered a
car
quinoa thank you why i’m butchering it
today is quinoa considered a carb and
are foods with balsamic glaze
permissible and healthy keto
no and no unfortunately
yeah it’s a grain
um we want to stay away from grains
it’s not just about the the carb carbs
and grains it’s also about the
phytic acid the other things that
prevent nutrient absorption and then the
high omega-6
fats versus very low omega-3 fats
and then also the caramel glaze
um i i wouldn’t i wouldn’t touch that
if i were you
okay very good rosalind and our hearts
go out to her from youtube uh if i’m too
thin can i still do keto and i have i am
a cancer survivor and i want to modify
my diet to keep the cancer from
recurring
yes
yes i would because
i mean
the thing is the more insulin resistance
you have the more
hyper insulinemia you have because of
the carbs
the worse you can have outcomes with
cancer and so it’s very important to
keep on a low carb diet when you to
prevent cancer from coming back when you
have cancer there’s a bit more you need
to do and i have videos on that but
as far as a prevention you want to make
sure your mitochondria are strong and
the best way to do that is to feed it
the fuel that
that you need to create the least amount
of damage to the mitochondria you know
the keto is the way to go with
intermittent fasting if you did
a keto plan with regular
intermittent fasting with periodic
prolonged fasting um
this is my opinion but i i think
you wouldn’t have your cancer come back
because it’s a very therapeutic thing
when you do fasting for it destroys
cancer
cancer does not like fasting
well rosalind we’re pulling for you so
keep up that great healthy
diet and we wish you well okay and
terry’s not leaving anybody out whenever
we do our shout out there’s always a few
others that feel left out and they are
malaysia zimbabwe tunisia morocco
kurdistan russia luxembourg and the
united arab emirates so thanks for
sounding off or sound chiming in and so
on uh so appreciate you joining us on
the show
and joining us all in great health uh
let’s see why don’t we uh oh go to our
first quiz question oh i’m falling
behind let’s get it going and doc here
it is
okay
why would calcium
build up
in your arteries why does calcium
actually build up in your arteries
okay jump on that
yeah so that’s what see if you guys um
know the answer for that one that’s an
interesting answer which i’ll be curious
if anyone knows the answer to that
all right very good let’s go back to the
green room and now just a little past
little rock
is uh charlotte
and here she is on with you dr berg
charlotte go ahead with your question
hi dr berg hello i just want to thank
you for your life’s work
it’s been very impactful in my life and
just thank you for what you do
okay my question is
um i have
i have been diagnosed with a alpha
thalassemia trait
and so i’ve been told that my red blood
cell count is a little higher than it
should be
i have experienced some unpleasant
symptoms with this um one of them being
trouble sleeping through the night so i
just kind of wake up i guess when my
my body gets hungry and i have been
trying to remedy that by you know eating
a little snack maybe a banana or
something but i i found that that
doesn’t work too well with keeping my
insulin down and my ability to lose
weight
so i cut that out but i was wondering if
you had any suggestions on what i could
do to sleep better through the night and
keep my cells
nourished yes
when someone has some type of defect in
their genes and everyone does have some
defects and mutations to their genes and
there’s some great dna testing that you
can do you’ll see more of this as time
goes on it doesn’t mean that those
genes will always be expressed because
you’re not you’re not they’re not the
controlling factor you have
epigenetics which is above
your genes so it’s lifestyle it’s it’s
when you eat it’s what you eat it’s the
stress level all these other things
but what you’re trying to do which is
smart is trying to do fasting and
it’s been hard so you have to snack um i
think there’s
two things i would well actually more
than that i would uh first of all you
need to start including the apple cider
vinegar with water in your
with your meals and maybe even before
you go to bed because that’s gonna it’s
one of the best things to regulate your
blood sugars
even if someone does a high carb diet if
they consume that apple cider vinegar
with water your blood sugars will be
better even if you have something called
the dawn phenomenon in the morning where
your blood sugars are high so apple
cider vinegar is really good um the
other thing is to make uh look back at
my videos on your meal
and compare it to what i recommend to
what you’re doing you might need more
fat with the meal
you might because you should if you’re
truly in ketosis
to be able to get the benefits
you need to go
you should lose your appetite so you
should not be hungry at all and you
should feel good and everything should
be fine um so the fasting
for your condition is so
vitally important because that way you
all these cool things will happen when
you started fasting to your blood i mean
like normalization of all sorts of
things um a couple little tips though
for sleeping you may also need to add a
little bit of salt and water
in the evening and drink that that does
help
sleep um
to help your sleep um especially if you
have what you have and uh and there’s
other remedies too like vitamin d3
before bed and zinc before bed
these are all just natural things that i
would do
um
versus snacking so give those a try and
let us know how that works
well that’s great well thank you so much
charlotte
thank you very much and do as we say
with everyone please get back in touch
with us and let us know how all that
works and let me see if we’ve got any
answers yet
no but let’s go back to um youtube lull
from youtube i am a lactating mother
with a child who is allergic to milk
chicken fish lemon mango avocados beans
and bananas what should i be eating to
stay in healthy keto and i f
it’s just a matter of
looking at what’s what’s acceptable and
i on my vid on my website i have a
download of all the things you can eat
and there’s a lot more options you can
eat a lot of additional foods you’re
going to have to
work on just avoiding those foods right
now
and
the other thing that you have to realize
if you include intermittent fasting and
even periodic prolonged fasting it’s one
of the best things to get rid of
allergies because
it strengthens your immune system
so you could do the avoidance for a
period of time
and then slowly introduce a small amount
of food over time to increase tolerance
but also the fasting is something that a
lot of people don’t realize that is
really good for allergies not just food
but environmental as well as the allergy
to your own tissue that’s called
autoimmune
so
that’s what i would do
very good okay teri my apologies you did
have the answer to quiz question number
one which asks why would calcium build
up in your arteries and 60 percent say a
lack of k2 20 say too much dairy or
vitamin d and 20 say too much sugar and
refined carbs any winters today
doc it makes it make logical sense that
a lot of these answers would be correct
um however
um a very similar thing is happening
on your teeth with the calcium deposits
which are tartar
to your arteries
and if you know what cintarter
it’s biofilms what’s a biofilm it’s a
colony of microbes that
hide from your immune system by building
up
these calcium igloo shells
and
they’ve
found out fairly recently that uh
you’re plaquing your arteries
is filled with biofilms
so what does this actually mean it means
that
if you’re trying to get rid of calcium
from your arteries and you’re only using
k2 it might not work
um
the worst thing you could do is take an
antibiotic
because now because they become stronger
with antibiotics
they grow with antibiotics because they
become resistant you can’t kill biofilms
with antibiotics so in a video
that i’m going to release
i talk about using
the same remedy
that you would get rid of tartar
and that would be hydrogen peroxide
now at first you’re going well wait a
second hydrogen peroxide that
that’s how you clean things i said yeah
that’s how you kill microbes it’s very
very potent antimicrobial and the cool
thing is our bodies actually make
hydrogen peroxide to kill
viruses to kill microbes it’s one of the
first lines of defense you’re not taking
anything that your body doesn’t already
make
so um in the video that i release you’ll
have to um get the background
of why that would be a good idea and
then um
understand the whole mechanism but
yeah so that’s really what’s happening
so the question is why would a
why would a
biofilm attach to your arteries
well they attach to uh areas surfaces
that have like a different rough edge
like just like if you were to have like
a
um
a replaced hip or a catheter
they tend to accumulate on that that
surface but they don’t tend to
accumulate on really smooth surfaces
so if your arteries are healthy and you
don’t have lesions and inflammation
because you don’t need a lot of sugar
or omega 6 fatty acids
then chances are you’re not going to
accumulate the biofilms and actually
create a whole cascade of plaquing
so it all kind of will make sense when
you watch the video
but it’s an interesting
topic and a way to handle and prevent
these problems
all right very good well our audience is
smart and resilient and the fact that
they uh almost completely failed to give
an adequate answer to that one we’re
going to give them another chance right
now there you go doc next question
there’s a very nice way of saying no
that’s not the right answer okay next
question is what does uh strong
smelling urine tell you
yuck all right let’s see so get on that
uh audience and let’s see what’s going
on with that and here we go back to leg
cramps gene from facebook this time what
can i do with leg cramps my blood tests
show i have low phosphorus levels uh
what should i be doing beyond healthy
keto and iaf
okay so we talked about electrolytes we
talked about the ph but
the question is um
if we bring in phosphorus
what
what um nutrient helps you absorb
phosphorus
that would be
vitamin d
vitamin d
helps control and helps absorb by a very
large
factor
both calcium and phosphorus
so i would
take more vitamin d for your leg cramps
because you automatically get the
absorption you see people don’t absorb a
lot of calcium and phosphorus from the
food unless they have vitamin d in the
intestines so
it’s just another little clue when you
said that phosphorus i would add the d
uh three with that and um
that should be the icing in the cake to
help you
very good why don’t we go back uh to the
green room
and our condolences to our next guest
who lost uh their queen there and ernest
is on with us from uh uk somewhere
between birmingham and london so ernest
you’re on with dr berg and our uh you
know our sympathies for what’s going on
there in the uk
thank you son um good morning son
good morning
hello can you hear me please
perfectly i can hear you perfectly hello
oh dear let’s see um
yeah um just quick
just quick question son
um i started about four months now i
started having like a foamy urine and um
i had my blood test done and clean um
scan
ct scan
everything is okay but i’m losing a lot
of weight and i’m still having it for me
urine i had um high blood pressure
no diabetes and um
i’m just
sick at moment i’m still having a me
urine and i’m losing a lot of weight
i got it are you on the ketogenic plan
yes but i
you know i just confused i don’t know i
stopped recently maybe a few days ago
okay so
foamy urine usually is a problem of too
much protein
so you may want to just adjust the
amount of dietary protein you eat and
and drink more fluids and see if that
doesn’t
help you now the other thing is that i
would definitely get a urinalysis
to figure out if there’s any other clues
do they have do you have protein in the
urine
do you have nitrates in the urine which
could indicate an infection
um because
when you do the keto diet you will be
losing weight too so i need i need to to
evaluate that we need to look at a
little bit more data but the first thing
that comes out of my mind with the
protein is the
too much protein will create foamy urine
so
i would look at
that first
and see if that would be the thing
to make adjustments
yeah i’ve done i’ve done that already
okay
and you’re still getting five don’t die
and my urine is fine
yesterday for me i the first time i
checked it four months ago i have
protein in my urine
then i’ve done it like
15 times
no protein in my urine anymore but i’m
still having for my urine
and i’m losing a long way
okay
so i think if you’re losing a lot of
weight and the question is you’re not on
keto right you’re not doing keto is that
true
yeah i’m doing it i’m doing it
okay well guess what
it’s going to be normal to lose a lot of
weight when you’re doing keto especially
if you’re
male because
men lose a lot more um
weight on keto so i i think the weight
loss is not a bad thing
i think the foamy uh
urine
there’s a we need to be able to
since you had protein initially
that tells me there was some damage in
the kids
so
that damage doesn’t go away right off
the bat it takes
it takes months
to fix that so even though the
the protein might go away the damage is
still there in the kidney that does take
probably going to take six months so i
would if i were you
follow the ketogenic plan make sure it’s
the healthy version
lower the mouth protein think more
absolutely and just give it a little bit
more time and i would also get like um
you can get those little uh
urinalysis sticks they’re not as
accurate but at least kind of you can
test yourself each day
and you can just see it see how things
are going um and then watch my video on
how to analyze it like for example
specific gravity for example that if
it’s if that’s altered i tell you what
to do if there’s nitrates i tell you
what to do if there’s euro balancing i
tell you what to do so um
i think your analysis
figure things out but
the reason you’re losing weight is
you’re because you’re on keto
that’s my guess
okay thank you something get back in
touch with us ernest uh and thanks for
representing the uk so very well we
appreciate it
now audience drum roll please we’re
going to have a chance to redeem
yourselves
by having some correct answers for
question number two which says what does
strong ammonia smell in urine tell you
speaking of urine
and 55 percent say liver or kidney
issues 35 say dehydration 15 say well
here we go too much protein
you’re all right again and i should
probably give people easier questions
but this is uh it’s mainly a liver
problem the liver
deals with
the excess protein that someone eats or
just the protein in general and so
there’s a whole cycle
of breaking down protein it’s called the
ur urea cycle
and
even your microbes can make
uh
uh add to this cycle too
in the day what they do is they take
this byproduct of protein called ammonia
and they turn it into urea which is a
less toxic thing
your body does not want too much ammonia
to be in your um bloodstream because
then it kind of goes to the brain and
it’s very toxic to your
your brain cells and you can have
dementia
both of that you’ll be perfectly fine so
your liver is
the organ that’s supposed to deal with
that so if the liver
can’t do that job because it has maybe
cirrhosis or it’s fatty or there’s
inflammation and then you you will it
will actually spill off into the blood
you’ll have higher amounts of
ammonium in the urine now when you’re
doing keto
what happens
is that
your ketones are more acidic
and
your body is trying to balance that ph
out
sometimes by increasing more ammonia
because ammonia is very alkaline
so that could be a completely normal
thing
because just because you’re just in some
deep ketosis
so this is why i recommend
um various things when you do keto like
you know apple cider vinegar with water
which actually helps this process uh
lemon water um
big salads all these things tend to
counter that ex excess ammonia
and yes you need to drink more water and
and that’s just a given but it’s not
just the water it’s the ammonia and then
the other thing is
if
you’re
consuming too much protein like let’s
say you’re doing
10 12
13 ounces of protein per meal
then you might have more ammonia smell
smell and there’s also other things that
can increase ammonia too like if you
sweat more profusely because your
microbes can turn it into ammonia
as well as you exercise a lot you can
have that ammonia touch smell but
typically if you’re doing the healthy
version of keto and you’re having a
moderate amount of protein
not the keto not the high protein but
the moderate amount you won’t have that
ammonia smell but i will release a video
on some natural things that you can do
to
clean it up if you still have a problem
very good shas from youtube could you do
a video or maybe you have on a
fertility friendly diet
well i have but i will do on on that um
now is this for a male well actually
male and female there are certain
remedies that you can take but
um out of all the nutrients for
fertility
vitamin e
should be at the top of the list because
if you’re a low in vitamin e you’re
going to be infertile but there’s a lot
more to it as well but vitamin e is
definitely an important one um
but i’m telling you what’s happening
now is this um
the diet that most people are on and the
chemicals in the environment are really
making a lot of people infertile um
unfortunately
um
and there’s certain things that i can’t
even talk about um or else i’ll shut my
youtube channel down
that are also contributing to it but i
think you guys can read through the
lines on that one
very good okay jj from youtube how can
we do if if we are diabetic
that’s the very reason why you need to
do it aya
i have right now a really good case
study which i’m going to do an interview
he’s a type 1 diabetic okay now he
doesn’t have insulin so he has to inject
it to to bring his sugars down
well he started doing fasting
and intermittent fasting and
his amount of insulin he needs is so
tiny right now it’s like
i mean you think you wouldn’t even need
any at all
so the whole goal
with diabetes is to take
the least amount of medication and have
so you have the least amount of um
insulin response and sugars right i mean
that’s like
common sense it’s going to decrease your
complications and all the other side
effects so
why wouldn’t you want to do something
that will help help that situation
fasting decreases the need for insulin
because eating stimulates insulin
so
it’s the exact thing you need to do it’s
the eating and the frequent meals that
just worsens things with diabetes
but i do have
sometimes i’ll have people who say well
i can’t do keto intermittent fasting
because i’m a diabetic i’m like well all
you all you’re missing is the basic
knowledge of what insulin is and what
diabetes is and once you understand that
you’re like oh
i need it
all right very good let’s do a math
question as a as a quiz here you go dr
berg
all right which has more vitamin a
three ounces of beef liver
or 200 cups of raw kale
um okay jump on that audience you
redeemed yourself on the last one let’s
keep that trend going
all right let’s see gene from youtube my
16 year old daughter had lyme disease
excuse me and
bring that up uh and went through two
different courses of antibiotics lasting
a total of three and a half months she
was scoped and was diagnosed with
candida uh yes
oh terry i wish you’re here
esophagealitis
or esophagus something wrong with that
and is on anti-yeast meds what
can we do to address this issue
when you take an antibiotic
you kill off
bacteria you don’t kill off yeast
you kill up the the very thing that’s
supposed to buffer the growth
of yeast
see the bacteria is there to keep the
yeast count and candida low
so now we have an overgrowth of yeast
you’re on medication so what you should
have done while you’re on this
antibiotic is started to take a
probiotic with it so you need to really
beef up your probiotics
so that’ll put your yeast back in into a
line a line
into checks so then that way it’s not
overgrowing the other thing is you want
to you want to make sure you’re on keto
and low carb because this yeast love
sugar
so
especially milk sugar so if you’re
eating
sugar especially ice cream that would be
a very bad thing
for a candida
i have videos on
what to do for lime and
you know
unfortunately
people take long-term antibiotics and
end up with
more problems and so this is this kind
of leads me to the next point
um
the optimum solution
is the solution doesn’t give you a
bigger problem or doesn’t give you any
problems that would be an opt-in
solution that’s why i always recommend
like natural herbs and stuff because
there is less side effects than
prescription medication but that’s just
my opinion very good okay the audience
has helped us catch up on these
questions with rapid fire responses and
they’ve done the calculations on the
question which asks which has more
vitamin uh hey three ounces of beef
liver or 200 cups of raw kale 85 say
it’s the liver and 15 say that you ought
to wolf down 200 cups of kale
that 15
probably if i were to ask them
individually
would say that
the
actual vitamin a is beta-carotene
because
they change the definition
of vitamin a to be
to include beta-carotene
beta-carotene is in the plant sources so
of course there’s a ton of beta-carotene
way more than liver with plant sources
so
but beta-carotene
you can’t fix
vitamin a deficiencies with
beta-carotene like for example your
night vision problem blindness
you can’t fix it with beta-carotene
because beta-carotene is actually a
precursor
that turns into retinol
it’s not the active form it’s not
bioavailable so now the next question is
what’s the conversion rate
well it’s really tiny it’s like three
percent
so that’s why you’d have to consume so
much
plant-based things for your
retinol
or else you’re just not going to get it
so if you’re not doing some of these
animal products you’re not going to get
vitamin a
the active form retinol in any large
amounts and we need retinol
for our retina which is the
the eye the the nerve in the eye to
allow us to see
um
especially at night and uh
so i will be sharing a video on that as
well
all right very good well here we go with
someone else that likes you dr berg
annabelle from london on youtube i
avoided gallbladder surgery because of
your advice and it is he’ll naturally
love you dr byrd i do think they sling
those gallbladders out right and left
don’t they
yes yeah it’s a very popular
i’m just glad it’s an extra organ that
we really don’t need
you know one of those just
extra things that people have that are
left in the evolutionary process it’s
just kind of still there
because we don’t need it
goodness okay patsy from facebook i have
an iron deficiency with elevated
cholesterol and
urea levels what should i be doing to
address these issues
well again
i would get on
the standard eating plan to help your
cholesterol but you mentioned iron
deficiency
um
it’s i would never ever ever ever take
an iron from a supplement because
they’re all
in a form that is um
elemental they’re not like uh easily
absorbable so they they they create more
problems than
you should they should so you want to
get iron from um
the best source is the best bioavailable
source would be from animal products and
that would be like
uh meats
eggs fish
things like that when you get iron from
vegetables or grains or beans or legumes
um
it’s it’s different it’s not uh what’s
called the heme iron that you need it’s
a non-heme iron and again you don’t get
nearly the absorption
and then additionally you have other
things in the grains and things like
phytic acid
that blocks iron
and tannins that block iron so here you
are
trying to get your source of iron from
plants but it’s not really working
so
people will always say well these plants
are nutrient dense well
if you look at the whole picture
it’s not it there’s other factors that
are going to limit the absorption of
those that vitamin those certain
minerals and vitamins as well
okay very good now we’ve got jude our
first from the philippines i think at
least coming on the air and he’s got a
little bit of a weak connection
so uh go ahead with your question your
picture’s a little jumbled go ahead jude
okay uh
good morning dr berg good morning
hi hello
oh
okay uh
thank you very much for this opportunity
to be with you today and my question is
uh
actually when i was uh
back many years ago when i was still in
my obese or overweight stage
there’s no problem with donating blood
to
red cross or whatever
but now that i’m practicing ketogenic
and intermittent fasting
just last week
my blood was actually rejected because
it’s too cloudy
according to the uh result from the lab
so i think that’s something that i’m
worried about if i can still donate or
something i need to change to my
diet to donate again flour thank you
okay so
you know being
blood that’s cloudy doesn’t give me a
lot of data so you want to find out
what specifically in that blood
um
is being
rejected
um uh i am i don’t have any uh specific
answer from the uh
from the medical technologist but uh
they just rejected my results and
they said it’s a lipidemic something
like that or maybe i need to fast more
for that day to be retest again
or do we have a retest but unfortunately
that doesn’t happen because the patient
died but
i think it’s something to do with what i
ate in the uh lunch time
but the test was done at 7 00 p.m and my
last meal was at uh 1 p.m on that day so
that was i think six hours okay yeah i
think i would get more more specifics on
exactly what they’re talking about and
then i’m i’m curious so if you could
email us at dr berg dr bird.com and tell
me what specifically they’re telling you
is it is it increased lipids in your fat
is it anemia is it
whatever uh and then then we need to
find out what you’re eating to make sure
that um that correlates with having a
really good blood profile um
because i need more data i can’t even
evaluate that but i will say that
for your
the oxygen carrying capacity the lipid
profile
being on keto low carb
should definitely be improved it
shouldn’t be worsened so
um i’m really curious to know why they
rejected you so give me that data
through that email dr berg dr berg.com
hey very good thank you so much for
coming on from the philippines we
appreciate that
let’s go to another question and there
it is doc
okay what is the root cause of
sibol
small intestinal bacterial overgrowth
climate audience okay let’s see and how
about nia from youtube i’m 120 hours
into a water fast and don’t feel hungry
but i’m starting to feel weak cold
fatigue should i break my fast now
uh am i in catis
excuse me ketosis now
you’re probably in really hardcore
ketosis and uh yeah it’s time to eat uh
because your body is weak and things
like that now you could probably push
through it
and take certain nutrients
and give it more time if you if you
wanted to test that out because
and if you have a lot of fat to burn
because what happens is like
you know it does take a bit of time for
your enzymes
to
convert over to be fully
into ketosis but there’s a big
difference between
adapting to ketosis
and being fat adapted
to be totally fat adapted where you can
just like oxidize fat very very well
that takes
like three months
it’s actually like one to three months
so um
i don’t know where you are on the cycle
but i will say that um
give it more time and i would probably
go ahead and eat at this point if you
feel weak
all right good advice here’s an
interesting question alex from facebook
can i drink lemon water for breakfast if
i’m fasting
yeah yeah the amount of carbs lemon
water are so
in
i mean it’s so tiny it’s not going to
create a problem
oh good i would worry about it because i
do drink some of that sometimes although
i’m not as you know daca hardcore keto
all the time so i don’t know why i’m
even injecting my myself in that but
rhonda from facebook
uh if i do
[Music]
um
if i do i f with two meals between noon
and six i lost 10 pounds initially but
i’ve stalled out what steps can i take
to get back on the weight loss track
well you may have lost a good amount of
water weight and now you’re down the fat
so a couple things to really focus on if
you plateau
one is that it’s time to go to one meal
a day it’s time to fast longer
also look at your carbs and make sure
they’re really low
the third thing is to um
decrease the amount of extra fat in your
diet so that way you’re just having the
fat with
with the meal
and the protein that it comes with not
some extra fat like don’t do the keto
bombs and things like that i should
probably
release
this video that i’ve been sitting on for
a while
which is kind of like an extreme weight
loss
version of the ketogenic diet
like i’ll try to release that tomorrow
for you and you can actually get a lot a
lot of ideas from that video all right
very good audiences with it again what
is the root cause of sibo small
intestinal bacteria overgrowth
70 percent of them say too much sugar or
refined carbs 25
say too much too many antibiotics and
five percent say
a deficiency in probiotics
okay so
i know these are hard questions because
normally people wouldn’t know this
unless they did a deep dive and studied
bile from the gallbladder
your body
makes
bile bile is a detergent
it helps you absorb outside of vitamins
and helps to curb excess cholesterol and
get rid of excess cholesterol
and number three it’s very very
anti-microbial so
normally the bile
when you eat should go into the small
intestine and help you digest food
and then go down the small intestine and
kill
all these microbes
to the small intestine
and once it gets all the way down to the
end of the pipe before the large
intestine it gets reabsorbed
so we have this
this purpose of keeping the microbes
very low in the small intestine from the
bile
so when you’re not having enough bile
you your risk for sibo goes way up and
this is why
people that have their gallbladder
removed
dramatically increase the risk of
getting
um
not just gallstones but sibo which is
because they’re lacking bile
so it’s really the lack of bile that
creates sibo more than anything else
which is interesting
um you because i other videos i talk
about hydrochloric acid being one cause
two
which is true
but it’s also a primary cause of having
not enough file
so the solution would be consuming bile
and that would actually help you with
sibo all right very good uh we’re going
to go to andre from redmond washington
but first let’s get out our last
question there it is doc
okay true or false
brand fiber is beneficial for ibs
irritable bowel syndrome
all right audience climb on that and
here
is andre from redmond washington go
ahead with your question andre
hi good morning uh first first of all
thank you for having me
uh and you touched on this topic already
quite a few times during this show but
i’m gonna say it anyways
so right now i’m 5'7 and my weight is
about 120 pounds
i’ve always had difficulty gaining
weight since i was a kid
and so for years decades i’ve been
eating anything i want
thinking i could get away with it
right and i grew up in peru in peru
everything has potato
uh
rice there’s corn even the healthier
dishes has like you know you know have a
potato a corn
you know but i wasn’t really getting
away with it because last year they
found that my a1c was 5.7 so it was
pre-diabetic
so i started doing uh i did
intermittent fasting on keto for for
about one month
and
i lost 10 pounds in one week
right so from 120 something to
112 pounds
so
yeah that was my way when i was a
teenager
[Music]
so my question is
and you touched on this topic already
and i think on the on your previous
answer to the previous guest
one of the
other guests you said oh if you’re in
keto you have to lose weight but i want
to know if there’s a way to actually
keep your weight or even gain weight
which is really what i wanted
um
in a healthy fashion without you know
spiking my insulin levels and so on yeah
that’s my question
okay so i think um yes you’re going to
have to keep your calories very very
high probably
minimally 3000 per day
to 3 500.
you’re going to have to keep more
calories and it’s hard to do that when
you’re in keto because how are you going
to do fasting with that so i would
definitely do two meals and have
two massive meals and you can even
probably do those the keto brick and get
that recipe and start adding more
calories to your your diet because that
way we you can increase more fat which
will which which will then prevent you
from losing any weight the other thing
you can do
is to do
weight training
um
based on the method of mic
menser
you can look them up it’s basically
high high high intensity low reps
um
but you’re creating
some serious
stimulation
of mice muscle hypertrophy and you’re
only working out once a week
or once every two weeks but it’s very
intense
and but it’s not volume but you’re going
to stimulate the muscle to grow so the
combination of muscle growth
more calories and then maybe keep your
carbs at 50 grams not too low but 50
grams two meals a day i think that will
solve your problem very nicely
well thank you so much
may i get like a bonus question so if i
quit bonus questions yeah um i was doing
prolonged fasting
yeah i was doing prolonged fasting and i
was uh
wondering if
taking nutritional juice could break it
no no not too much it’s not going to
break it for more than a nanosecond so i
wouldn’t worry about that at all
all right that’s great or andre you can
hang around with me and i’ll have you
bulbous in a couple of weeks
with my poor habits so in an emergency
give me a shout and i’ll get you fat
thanks so much for joining oh absolutely
no charge okay let’s see do we have an
answer for our question quiz
question number five
um which asks excuse me
fumbling around here audience forgive me
uh true false uh
uh brand fiber is beneficial for ibs
irritable bowel syndrome
and the audience uh a hundred percent
yay say that it’s false is that
true boy
they’re correct because you never ever
ever want to take
brand fiber
for ib gaskets you are going to
literally set that thing on fire
um
so this just kind of goes
through you know like
if you the worse the digestive tract the
less fiber that you can tolerate
um and that these people are taking like
brand fiber thinking it’s the next
uh panacea of health but if they have
any ibs
they’re gonna suffer
severe pain
um but
i think we should go to uh charlotte um
who’s been waiting patiently in the
green room because we have not well
actually we did get to her from a little
past little rock so um we did we did
okay we did well uh thank you uh anyway
charlotte’s very uh flattered i’m sure
that we’re gonna bring her on here twice
but here’s one thing we can bring on doc
and that is another reminder
to the audience to get your now approved
app and all your questions right here is
just like uh
you know just a dictionary in your
pocket if you go this way and but we
still want you to go to doctorberg.com
for sort of all the announcements but
there it is folks it’s a great little
app
uh on android or on apple dr berg app so
climb on that and
and uh there we go yeah
download it it’s very very expensive
it’s free
um but you will get
a nice summarization and
a nice place to find all these videos
and if you like it i’d really appreciate
if you could
give me a review that would be wonderful
if you don’t like it
don’t give me a review
excellent
well let’s see i guess maybe we have
time to talk about international
shipping any new news on that or getting
people’s products elsewhere
yeah if you if you are not in america
okay and you you don’t like paying for
extra shipping
we finally kind of got into different
areas around the world so you can
actually order products without paying
the excessive amount of the shipping so
we’re always working on that so i know
that’s going to help help out
one thing i would like to say about
just products in general
um
the quality of the products that i have
is definitely definitely different i’m
always working on getting really good
sources and not just
like from the like the plant or the herb
but the soil the soil that it’s grown on
they don’t really talk about that a lot
and
the great majority of all
products out there supplements are made
by
either
drug companies chemical companies
or marketing companies and so
the quality is just not going to be the
same
so i will say that if you want something
that’s just
clean and it’s nutrient dense and it’s
very effective you might want to try our
products but um
so that’s that’s what i wanted to say on
that note
i really appreciate all your just
wonderful questions and comments and
um
i read a lot of them so stay tuned for
some more videos coming up this next
week and uh i think you’re going to like
those as well but i appreciate all of
your wonderful kind words so thank you
and have a wonderful weekend
[Music]
you
